A take out is located immediately upstream on the Vermont side. A portage trail takes paddlers acros Route 105 to a put-in downstream of the dam. Land by stone steps above bridge. At high water, it is possible to take-out slightly upstream in a small cove. Follow trail up steps, across Route 102, and down to sandy beach.

The St. Francis Trail is northwest of Deland off CR 42, just north of its junction with SR 44 immediately west of the bridge over the St. Johns River.
Exit 280 at Maple Street, proceed north to Francis Avenue. Turn west and follow Francis Avenue which becomes SR 291 (Nine Mile Road). Turn left on W. Charles Road at Nine Mile Dam. Proceed west, just past the Ranger station and fire station. Parking lot is on north side of the road, just before the elementary school.
